How to Post Videos

Posted June 29th, 2008 by RonShimshock

Many of you may be curious to know how to post YouTube or Google videos into your blog entries or forum posts.

To ensure the security and safety of the site, it is not possible to use the "embed" code YouTube provides in the upper right corner of a video page. Instead, it is necessary to use the approach described in the "Input format" section right below the entry field where you type your content.

In there it describes to add a video, all you need to do is have the word "video", followed by a colon (":"), then the web address (URL) of the video, and all of this surrounded by brackets ("[" and "]").

Here is an example where I have replaced the brackets with parentheses so you can see what it looks like, otherwise the site will try to turn it into a video:

(video:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w9BfLMHNhxE)

Once the page is saved, your video will appear. As of right now, the videos which can be added include YouTube, Google, DailyMotion, Comedy Central, GodTube, EyeSpot, Jumpcut, Revver, and Vimeo. If you have other video sources you would like to use, let us know and we will attempt to get them added shortly. Thanks.
