Oklahoma Senate Race Run-off: Campaign Literature Comparison Stanislawski vs Carter

This information was sent out recently to the Tulsa Republicans Restoring the Republic Meetup Group http://ronpaul.meetup.com/32/ by Ryan Underwood.  Because I had posted information about the statewide races and now share Ryan's concerns about this race in Senate District 35, I asked his permission to share this post.  The Run-off Election in this race is August 26th.  If you live in the Tulsa area, please investigate this race closely and make sure that the candidate of your choice is properly reflecting your values.  If you have any additional information, comments are welcomed!

I have in my hands the latest campaign flyers from the Stanislawski and Carter campaigns.  Regardless of what the proverbial finger in the air might tell him is the best strategy to win this particular campaign, with this flyer Gary Stanislawski is abrogating his duty as a teacher to promote the message of liberty while he seeks a position of state power.

It is a shame, since this particular race has been so closely watched (and since the opposition is associated with such clearly deplorable characters and initiatives as we know) that this soapbox opportunity was squandered -- first by apologizing for a past eminent domain proceeding, and now by taking the campaign message down a plainly fearmongering bend.  Judge for yourself: given no other prior knowledge of character or deed, which candidate below is advertising the values that you believe?  Which one would you consider to be "the real conservative" based solely on the
campaign message?

[Editor's note:  Gary Casey is a candidate for Senate in Oklahoma in another district]

Gary Casey, on the other hand, is an honest, humble man of character, as I am told Gary Stanislawski also is, but Gary Casey is also running on a platform of traditional conservative principles, which does not include ID cards; surveillance; eliminating the law enforcement paper trail that protects us from police and prosecutorial abuse; prioritizing victimless drug violations (which ironically create the overloaded law enforcement environment we wish to relieve); advocating regulation of the Internet; notably FAILING to advocate lower taxes; notably FAILING to advocate less laws to reduce the burdens on law enforcement and the court system; and notably FAILING to advocate market solutions to replace various government failures we are saddled with, such as government schools, and such as government monopoly on road and bridge construction and maintenance.

Gary Stanislawski should take a page from Sally Bell's, Mike Ritze's, and Gary Casey's, books on how to run a campaign that energizes people who truly believe that liberty is the only practical solution -- and more importantly, the only moral solution -- to the problems we all face in our daily lives.

GARY STANISLAWSKI

Oklahomans deserve to live in safe homes, send our children to safe schools and drive on safe streets and bridges!

SAFE HOMES
The safety of our citizens is our most important challenge.  As a member of the State Senate, I will work to remove obstacles to effective law enforcement.  I will lead the fight to eliminate unnecessary regulations that require city and county law enforcement officials to spend more time filling out forms than fighting crime.  I will work to prioritize funding for our criminal courts and District Attorneys' offices in order to reduce the case backlog that hampers effective law enforcement.  I will be a leader in the war against online predators.  And I will support every effort to eliminate the scourage of illegal drugs on our communities.

SAFE SCHOOLS
Nothing is more important than the safety of our children and grandchildren.  When a parent sends a child to school, their only concern should be the child's academic progress.  And it's a proven fact that children learn better in a secure environment.  As a a member of the Jenks School Board, I am proud of the measures we have taken to secure our schools.  Visitor ID technology and video surveillance systems protect our schools from intruders and serve as a deterrent to mischief within the school.  As a member of the State Senate, I will apply my experience in this area to make sure every child enjoys this essential protection.

SAFE ROADS AND BRIDGES
Over 1,300 Oklahoma bridges have been identified as unsafe.  Some of these structures are over a century old.  Lives are at stake every time a school bus or family vehicle crosses an unsafe bridge.  This problem grows worse by the year because our leaders have not had the political courage to get the job done.  As your State Senator, I will accept no more excuses.  Safe roads and bridges are a matter of life and death.  We must prioritize state budgetary needs and do whatever is necessary to solve this problem now.

CASON CARTER

A PROVEN LEADER ON IMMIGRATION
[Endorsement from John Sullivan on reporting arrested illegal aliens to authorities]

A LEADER WE CAN TRUST TO FIX OUR ROADS AND BRIDGES

Cason favors taking politics out of road and bridge repair -- this means taking an existing funding source, such as motor vehicle fees, and dedicating it to improving our infrastructure.  Cason also supports, just as he did on the City Council, policies that reward companies for doing quality work in a shorter amount of time and penalize those that do not meet schedules.

A PROVEN LEADER IN ADDRESSING CRIME
[Endorsement from Wendy Ward, Heller Park Assn. on Camelot removal and "crackdown on crime"]

A CONSERVATIVE WE CAN TRUST ON PROPERTY TAXES

It is simply wrong for government to automatically increase taxes on homes when we know that home ownership helps families stay together.  Cason supports limits on property tax increases, particularly for those that are retired and on a fixed income, so that people can plan for expenses and have a better opportunity to own a home.

A CONSERVATIVE WE CAN TRUST ON FAMILY VALUES

Cason Carter is adamantly pro-life, receiving a 100% YES score on the Oklahomans for Life survey.  Cason wants a government that encourages families to stay together and will fight for pro-family legislation that makes it easier for one parent to choose to stay home with children and that encourages parental involvement in our schools.

A PROVEN CONSERVATIVE ON LEGAL REFORM

When Cason Carter discovered that workers' compensation policies in the City of Tulsa were not in line with the private sector, he changed those policies.  Cason will take that same "actions over words" approach as your State Senator, working to reform the state workers' compensation and tort systems, which drive up the costs of doing business and the costs of health care.

A PROVEN LEADER ON CREATING JOBS
[Endorsement from Janine Morales, Brookside Assn. on small businesses]

A CONSERVATIVE WE CAN TRUST ON FUEL PRICES

Cason knows that the best way to control fuel prices is to increase the supply.  Cason will work to make certain that Oklahoma is a vital part of the solution to America's dependence on foreign oil.  We should produce all types of energy here at home.  Not only does increased production provide us with a stable supply for our economy, but it will keep costs low, strengthen the value of the dollar, and create more high-paying jobs for our citizens.

[Endorsement from Joseph W. Morris, UTulsa, on small businesses and tort reform]

"I believe our state government tries to do too many things.  We don't need a sprawling bureaucracy, but rather, a government that focuses on the basics: fixing our aging infrastructure; improving the quality of education; and creating a deregulated business climate that rewards entrepreneurship and encourages new jobs.  We pay enough in taxes.  Instead of raising taxes and fees, our state government needs to control how existing tax revenues -- created by our hard work -- are spent.  You have my commitment that I will work hard to get our state government back to the basics."   -- Cason Carter
