I am guessing that this is the next step in our government's implementation of the reccomendations given by The New Freedom Commission. on Mental health or something equally as sinister. They are responsible for TeenScreen and SOS-thinly veiled public school programs designed to feed hungry big Pharma new consumers for their most destructive drugs. Yes-I can back that up. Read what whistleblower, Allen Jones discovered.

I am a “whistleblower” who has sought the protection of the federalcourts to tell the following story.I am employed as an Investigator in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Office of InspectorGeneral (OIG), Bureau of Special Investigations. In November of 2002, I entered a CivilRights lawsuit against OIG officials to preserve my right to speak out on issues of vital public interest involving pharmaceutical industry influence on the treatment of mental health patients in state institutions. As an OIG Investigator, I attempted to expose evidence of major pharmaceutical company wrong doing. The industry was influencing state officials with trips, perks, lavish meals,transportation to and first-class accommodations in major cities. Some state employees were paid honorariums of up to $2,000 for speaking in their official capacities at drug-company sponsored events. As I attempted to explore and surface these facts I met stiff resistance by OIG officials. I was told that pharmaceutical companies are major political contributors and that I should not continue my probe. The more I attempted to delve, the more I was oppressed by my supervisors. I was effectively threatened with loss of job, career and reputation if I continued to investigate the pharmaceutical companies.In the words of the OIG manager who curtailed my investigation and participated in overt threats against me: “Drug companies write checks to politicians –they write checks to politicians on both sides of the aisle”. I was removed from the drug investigation, forbidden to inquire further, and assigned to menial duties. However, I continued the investigation on my own as a private citizen.The “Model Program” being implemented in Pennsylvania with drug industry hard-sell,misinformation and inducements has just been recommended by President Bush’s New Freedom Commission as a model program for the entire country.The “Model Program” is the Texas Medication Algorithm Project” (TMAP-pronounced TMap)

These sneaky programs practice what is known as "passive consent" which allows them to slip it by the parents in order to maximise participation. Active consent is required for important stuff like field trips and many other activities that your child participates in at school that carry some liability. Active consent requires that parents sign a form BEFORE the child is permitted to participate. Strangely, in order for the schools to take a peek at your child's mental health, they send a happy little scrap of paper in the mail that describes, in glowing terms, their psychiatry patient recruiting program and if you DON'T return it then little Jane or Johhny is put in the programme. (if the kid loses, forgets or the parent overlooks the misleading document-same result-kid is screened) Only if you sign and return before the programme will your child then be opeted out. I am not a lawyer but this seems to run counter to the Protection of Pupil Rights Amendment.

I went to my child's school and looked at the materials(as allowed by law) for SOS. You could not have or make a copy or remove the information from the premises. I thought about pulling a "Sandy Berger move but since I was the only parent that had actually looked at the materials, I thought better of it) I did take copious notes despite the administrator poking her head around the corner every so often to check in on me.
I felt a stab of fear as I read over the SOS checklist of tasks to follow up on the teaches administrating this program where it is asked: Did parent/gaurdians follow up as suggested and in a timely manner? Check Yes or No. If No. Did you notify DHS? Yes/No.
Do you think parents had any idea what NOT signing that piece of paper could get them? Essentially by not opting out(signing the slip)parents had inadvertantly given consent to a possible visit from child welfare. Swell.
There is also the problem with data harvesting and privacy.

This is a threat to ALL parents. Even the ones that home school (maybe especially)

The point of this posting is to provide context for what makes me very suspicious of these new bills. We are experiencing more and more restrictions of our freedoms and rights. Everone has to draw the line somewhere. Personally, I won't permit anyone to interfere with my rights as a parent. Parents, being responsible for what happens to their child cannot permit their authority to be pre-empted by the state and I won't give them one, single inch here.
Do your research-be outraged.
