The End of American Exceptionalism

"The American way of life is not negotiable" is a quote from President George H. W. Bush in 1992. Andrew J. Bacevich uses this statement as a backdrop for what he considers to be the American "empire of consumerism", as noted in his new book, "The Limits of American Power: The End of American Exceptionalism". Mr. Bacevich is a West Point graduate, former US Army Colonel, 23-year veteran who served in Vietnam, and currently an international relations expert at Boston University.

He has testified before Congress regularly and is respected by both Democrats and Republicans as someone who speaks the truth to power. He recently sat down with Bill Moyers of PBS to discuss the US as a "national security state", the notion of American consumerism driving imperialism, and what he views as the failings of every president since Lyndon Baines Johnson when it comes to American foreign policy. Watch the following videos for an incredible discussion. Highly recommended.

Re: The End of American Exceptionalism

This is the video that should be sent to all the delegates and alternates at both upcoming conventions! It is time to wake up from our deep slumber and take back our country from the gobalists currently in power and bankrupting our nation . . ./sc

Re: The End of American Exceptionalism

Thanks, I agree with you that we really need to spread these videos to as many people as possible. Some very powerful messages from Col. Bacevich about what is happening to our country.

I like that his thoughts are really grounded in common sense. Also his military background gives him the knowledge and expertise to speak with authority. I was sad to hear that his son had been killed in Iraq. He and his family have made some significant sacrifices for America.

Re: The End of American Exceptionalism

Thanks for sharing. Andrew Bacevich speaks not only with common sense, but with an analytical approach towards truth. His perspective is refreshing and directed towards the core issues, breaking down the falsehoods, and defining the TRUTH of the state of our nation.
I agree with his perspective clarifying the global war on terrorism.
His quote of former president Carter stating the U.S. will "opt for a false world of freedom" is a definitive statement.
There is much truth to Bacevich's thoughts that "our president moved to the center..."our system is broken".
And of course, stating our country's leader, his position, is an "Imperial Presidency" is precisely defined!

Let's indeed share this video/book with all!!
