Soldiers in Colorado slayings tell of Iraq horrors

And this would be a good reason to spread the word of my previous post.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Soldiers from an Army unit that had 10 infantrymen accused of murder, attempted murder or manslaughter after returning to civilian life described a breakdown in discipline during their Iraq deployment in which troops murdered civilians, a newspaper reported Sunday.

Wars are Manipulated

This means, of course, that people are manipulated. Take the current Gaza conflict. The ceasefire came neatly before Obama’s inauguration, conveniently getting the new president off the hook for a spell, until a resumption of hostilities could be finessed on terms to fit the new administration. Now we’re on the brink of those new hostilities. How have they been finessed? They were precipitated by a roadside bomb that killed an Israeli soldier patrolling outside Gaza, breaking the ceasefire. The finesse? Hamas denied responsibility for the bomb.

Don't you support the troops?

Background

I just read a note by a young man I count a friend. The note was on his thoughts about his father coming home from Iraq, and what it has meant having his father overseas and the resultant investment he has in Iraq. I've watched this young man grow up. I've been friends with his father for 10 years.

I can understand how this young man is invested in Iraq. I was similarly, and incorrectly as I see it now, invested in our last multi-year non-war in Vietnam.

Slaying monsters in the name of "Freedom"

A friend recently sent me a link to this homemade McCain ad. I will give its creators credit for putting it together well, and I will further credit the veteran pictured in the ad for his willingness to follow his convictions to the point of risking life and limb. I must, however, state that his convictions have been misguided and his trust in McCain misplaced.

The Demise of Conscience by Jacob G Hornberger     As libertarians have long pointed out, both the welfare state and the warfare state have brought immeasurable damage to our country.

The Real Georgian War - What you are NOT being told

Something that I find interesting is how the main stream media is always saying that Russia has attacked Georgia.  When you look a little deeper into what is really going on there you'll find that Georgia is the one who attacked first.  Here's just one of many articles.
