These two articles sure makes it seem like they are not very concerned about the proported safety aspect once they realize the $$ isn't there.

"The American way of life is not negotiable" is a quote from President George H. W. Bush in 1992. Andrew J. Bacevich uses this statement as a backdrop for what he considers to be the American "empire of consumerism", as noted in his new book, "The Limits of American Power: The End of American Exceptionalism". Mr. Bacevich is a West Point graduate, former US Army Colonel, 23-year veteran who served in Vietnam, and currently an international relations expert at Boston University.
I saw this the other day and thought it was such a great idea! Do you get a lot of junk mail in your mail box? You know the kind that has the prepaid postage envelopes to make it oh so convient for you to reply. I swear I get a swath of paper that probably could add up to be a whole forest in my lifetime. It really is such a shame, poor trees! At any rate, if everyone would do this it would put those junk mailer’s out of business or at least make them think twice. I know I’m going to do it just to test it out and see if it really works!
To further promote and market the upcoming Liberty Straw Poll, we have created a useful Flash-based widget. There are two versions, one that is 300 pixels wide and a second that is 150 pixels wide:
The uprise of violence in America's schools has brought about a new perspective, allowing teachers to carry authorized concealed weapons to school. I agree with this crisis management approach.
US teenager's parents sue school over depression screening test

The parents of an Indiana teenager have filed a suit in a federal court in the state's Northern District, charging that school officials violated their privacy rights and parental rights by subjecting their daughter to a mental health screening examination without their permission.
This information was sent out recently to the Tulsa Republicans Restoring the Republic Meetup Group http://ronpaul.meetup.com/32/ by Ryan Underwood. Because I had posted information about the statewide races and now share Ryan's concerns about this race in Senate District 35, I asked his permission to share this post. The Run-off Election in this race is August 26th. If you live in the Tulsa area, please investigate this race closely and make sure that the candidate of your choice is properly reflecting your values. If you have any additional information, comments are welcomed! <

IACP Supports Gun Show Background
Check Act of 2008
The IACP recently announced support for S. 2577, the Gun Show Background Check Act of 2008, introduced by Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ) and Jack Reed (D-RI).
We have a run-off for county sheriff in progress so naturally I have done some investigating of the candidates. One of them has a long history in law enforcement and IACP (International Association of Chiefs of Police) membership. I would like to share with you some information regarding the IACP that I have found disturbing.
#1. Disturbing Fact. They accept funding from pro-gun control institutions like The Joyce Foundation. I will post more interesting facts in subsequent entries but, first things first.

Something that I find interesting is how the main stream media is always saying that Russia has attacked Georgia. When you look a little deeper into what is really going on there you'll find that Georgia is the one who attacked first. Here's just one of many articles.

Introducing the Liberty Straw Poll: A new campaign support system for pro-liberty candidates

This is a fairly interesting article about the naval build up in the gulf around Iran. My personal opinion is that this is probably not the best idea. What are your thoughts?
If you had the opportunity to watch the opening ceremonies of the Olympic games, you may have found our country's athletes dolled up in Ralph Lauren. Yes, Ralph Lauren apparently "represents" our country, according to the fashion industry and obviously the olympic committees. Could we possibly present a more pretentious view of American culture? Hardly!! David Lauren, Ralph Lauren VP of advertising, marketing, and corporate communications declared..."stylish enough to elevate us as a country". Elevate us??!! My goodness...the messages we send.
The recent appearance of red light traffic cameras in my city has a strange effect me.
Whenever I spot them I become agitated, distressed and find myself daydreaming about ways to destroy them. Why do I have to resist the urge to communicate with them through sign language?
For me to respond this way to safety equipment is unusual to say the least so I decided to investigate these devices in an effort to infuse some reason into my reaction in the future. I believe I accomplished my goal.

Theyre going to bleed us dry. The Beatles song, "Taxman" comes to mind here:
In another blow to civil liberties, a federal judge ruled on Wednesday that protesters at the Democratic National Convention in Denver can be restricted to fenced-in areas. The judge felt that security needs outweigh any infringement on personal rights.
Remember the Alamo was a cry that came out of a defeat and became a victory ultimately. But it did not happen immediately. It came because people rallied to the cause and reminded people of the battle and pressed on to eventually win. Please Remember Nueces and donate something this week to make sure the battle there is won in Texas in the courts to protect us all from future tyranny. The folks in Nueces have fought valiently. They need to feel us surround them and help them in this effort because we will not forget and we will not let the abuse of the Republica
