Was the Southern Poverty Law Center always this batpoop crazy? I vaguely remember getting direct mail from them, back when I was a progressive with a Mother Jones subscription. I never fully understood what they were about (the name confused me), but it seemed to me they were some sort of anti-racist group. Previously, they seemed somewhat benign and even milque toast. Now it seems they are going on a full-on frontal assault against anyone in America who is not a liberal progressive humanist. 

The EU is planning to "levy" the bank accounts of depositors in Cyprus in order to pay for "pensions" and other debt. Up to 10% of personal savings are targeted, for those with higher balances, and the excuse is that these higher balances are "mostly" Russian mafia-types who don't deserve to keep their money. But if you happen to simple be a frugal, thrifty person who saved your money over the years, you, too, will get punished along with the money-launderers.

It's a common thing, among progressives (or perhaps mainly those paid "Obamabots" who like to go comment on sites like Breitbart to bash the Tea Party), to claim that conservatives or Republicans are "on the wrong side of history." Usually this pertains to issues such as gay marriage, but also extends to Obamacare and other socialist ideals. Certainly, there's a bit of cognitive dissonance in crowing about freedom all the time and then wanting to keep gays from marrying, but liberals constantly confuse social conservatives with libertarians.

In the wake of the Sandy Hook shooting, many stories have come out about overzealous school administrators who have suspended or even expelled small children for gun-related play. Hello Kitty toy bubble guns, finger guns, and even mentioning guns might get a small child into trouble. I thought things were getting crazy when a 6-year-old girl was expelled from her Southern Carolina school for bringing a clear plastic gun for show-and-tell. But no, it's getting worse.

I'm gobsmacked by the story of a family who is suing a Colorado school because their six-year-old son, who identifies as a girl, can't use the girls' bathroom. As a long-time feminist, I'm appalled at the push by the transgender movement to make women's bathrooms, dressing rooms, and locker rooms unsafe for women by trying to gain access for biological males. It's ironic to me - the men who want to be women are blithely harming women in their quest for equality.
